first christmas away from home

basically speaking, the past week and a half have been absolutely mad. i spent most of my time either ridiculously busy or in west kirby (and by that i mean completely at my leisure). most of my friends have gone home for the holidays, except for N and my flatmates since they are all from manc. i went through the moving process on the 21-23 and am still working on my room. it's mostly organized though, so i will try to post pics soon. i am already much, much happier here. i actually enjoy hanging out with the people i live with, meaning that not only can i hang out outside of my room, but i can also watch football, cook, play computer games, watch films, play guitar, and generally interact with my flatmates in ways that were impossible in the university halls. it's nice to be here.

i spent christmas with the Bs in west kirby. we watched films every night (except christmas eve when we went out to the pub-- tradition, apparently). i ate a lot of good food. it was mostly traditional english dinners (potatoes, meat, gravy, overcooked veggies), but i also had em's homemade soup and amazing curry. i got a lot of knitting done and walked around WK for a bit. on boxing day, i visited the Ss and went on a walk on the beach with them. it was gorgeous: bright, crisp, and just the right amount of wind. i left on the 27th to come back home, and enjoyed a second boxing day here as well as a day out with N yesterday. we picked up stuff for NYE (we're hosting a party here apparently). i can't really think of much else to say, really. i'm just enjoying the break and trying to stay warm.

i hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, will next update you in 2010! happy new year!

*later note: we've just finished a treasure hunt and are now playing hide & seek. yep, those are house activities!*
